David's silence and passivity in dealing with the rape and murder were telling. Amnon reminded him of what he had done to Bathsheba, and Absalom what he did to Uriah, even getting Amnon drunk! It was like looking in the mirror. And he couldn't execute judgement and condemn his sons for the very same sins he committed. As a king and a father, David failed! He had the responsibility of dealing with the heinous crime, but remained silent and turned a blind eye for roughly 7 years. Why is it her shame to carry?? I absolutely hate the narrative that it is more shameful to be raped than it is to be a rapist!
Reply →Obed Parry ...i have this strong conviction about a mysticm surrounding Bathsheba, David, Urriah and Ahithophel. There is something in there we don't know yet. Christ;Jesus of Nazareth was through Bathsheba!
Reply →I think David think so. Got weaker in character and judgement Pure lust indeed! And how he just got rid of her after
Reply →Wow. A very dramatic and heartbreaking passage indeed. It’s very interesting how Amnon’s ‘love’ quickly turned to hate. It exposes it for what it was - pure lust. And as for David, the least said the better. He was angry with Amnon but his silence and inactions left so much to be desired. Did David somehow become weaker in character as he grew older?🤔
