David's silence and passivity in dealing with the rape and murder were telling. Amnon reminded him of what he had done to Bathsheba, and Absalom what he did to Uriah, even getting Amnon drunk! It was like looking in the mirror. And he couldn't execute judgement and condemn his sons for the very same sins he committed. As a king and a father, David failed! He had the responsibility of dealing with the heinous crime, but remained silent and turned a blind eye for roughly 7 years. Why is it her shame to carry?? I absolutely hate the narrative that it is more shameful to be raped than it is to be a rapist!
