In that world, taking the king’s concubines was a public way of saying: “David is no longer king. His house, throne, and authority now belong to Absalom.” It was meant to make the break permanent. No going back. No “father and son can reconcile later.” Absalom had publicly dishonored David. The women were treated as political property, which is ugly. The Bible records it, but it doesn’t celebrate it.

this reverse psychology is sweet. Also, the people in our inner circle who we listen to...we ought to be extremely cautious and be judges of intent. most importantly God will keep his people

Don't let us think David didn't understand what was going on. He was told this will happen, reason he left hoping to avoid it. He understood Prophecy himself, a Prophet. Do you all understand now why God demands the annihilation of all the Canaanites? It was an issue of DNA, even babies you spare will grow up to want revenge and do evil. Obed Parry you see it my dear friend?
