The biggest takeaway today is the context surrounding the popular verse in Ps. 82:6. That verse has always had a positive meaning cuz it’s been quoted in isolation but in context, it’s not that at all. “You are gods” was said to actually invoke judgment on people that had been carrying themselves as big and mighty. Now I don’t know if the popular interpretation is still valid.

In Psalm 79 and 80, the people are crying to God, but the disaster did not come from nowhere. Israel had bad leadership, spiritual corruption, injustice, idolatry, and poor national direction for years. Then when collapse came, everyone felt abandoned by God.
