God wants us to partner with Him and has always made provisions for us should we disobey him but then again He strongly abhors idolatory and strongly tells Solomon how He will reject them as His people should they turn away from Him to other gods. He is always particular about idolatory. And God actually when God forgives, He doesnt recount it against us anymore all He expects from us to genuinely return to Him when we sin.
