Jonah had insane audacity tbh, he that outrightly disobeyed God still had the mind to ask God not to forgive the people of Nineveh. This had me thinking of how when I look down other people that sin and not reflecting on how even me myself I am not perfect. The Sailors also seem to be fair people, they really did everything they could before lastly resolving to throw him into the sea. God also used that instance to turn them to serve Him. So in all, God gives grace to all of us, God doesn’t just send punishment on people, He gives us chances to turn and do right by Him.
Jonah is very funny🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣He made me laugh at first. 🤣🤣🤣Imagine being angry because God took away a plant! But the more I thought about it, the less I laughed. I realized I have my own 'plants'—things I've expected from God or things He's allowed me to enjoy. And when they're taken away or never come, I sometimes become disappointed with Him. Jonah reminds me that God isn't just interested in giving me blessings; He's interested in revealing what my heart is attached to. Sometimes He removes the plant so I'll discover whether I've been loving the gift more than the Giver.
Divine purpose and leadership opportunities do not wait for you to reach a certain age they require a willing heart, humility, and the readiness to lead by example when responsibility falls on your shoulders. Uzziah’s father, Amaziah, ended his reign poorly due to pride and idolatry. Uzziah did not let his father’s failures dictate his own path; instead, he chose a fresh start. The lesson here is that you are not bound by the mistakes of those who came before you.
It’s interesting to note that Jonah was an already established prophet before he was sent to Nineveh. I have always thought he was just an ordinary man God used to spread His message across. I learnt that even matured believers like Jonah can struggle with obeying God’s instructions. We need to know that believing in God would not mean we wnt struggle and it’s okay if we do. What matters is whether we realize that we have no place to hide till we obey.
Jonah is a real funny guy, how do you expect to run from the presence of God on a ship???…the same God who created the sea and will easily find you there…smh. Jonah paa Moral of Jonah’s story for me: We cannot stand in the seat of judgment to judge other people, but only focus on obeying God’s instructions and abiding in His will
Can we say the leprosy brought upon Uzziah felt a bit harsh?…afterall, he did everything to please God and due to one act of defiance, he died a leper. Anyway, on the other hand, I can argue, that for someone who knows the ways of God, he shd have known better not to touch the incense.
