As we read Amos 6, I couldn't help but think that the Israelites just never seemed to learn. God had warned them repeatedly, yet they carried on as if nothing was wrong. They were comfortable, enjoying life, and convinced that everything was fine, even though their hearts had drifted away from God. It made me realize how easy it is to become the same way. We can get so comfortable with our routines that we stop examining our hearts and listening to God. What I am learning is not to mistake comfort for closeness to God. A comfortable life doesn't always mean we're walking in His will. We still need to remain humble, teachable, and willing to respond when He speaks.
