When I read Ezekiel 33, one thing that really stood out to me is the responsibility of the watchman. God told Ezekiel that if He gave him a warning to give to the people, Ezekiel had a responsibility to speak. If he warned them and they refused to listen, then their response was their responsibility. But if he failed to warn them, then God would hold him accountable for not speaking. So, for me, the lesson is not that we are responsible for everyone in the world or that we will suffer the consequences because somebody refused to change. Rather, we are responsible for what God has entrusted to us. If we know the truth and God gives us an opportunity to speak or warn someone, we should not deliberately remain silent. But after we have done our part, the person's response is between them and God. We cannot force someone to repent or make the right decision. We are the watchmen but we are not the judge and we are not the Savior. That also reminds me that I shouldn't carry the burden of thinking If this person doesn't change, then somehow it's my fault. My responsibility is to be faithful, to speak the truth in love, and to leave the person's response in God's hands. Amen

The reads that stood out to me; Ezekiel 33 and Psalm 137 Ezekiel is quite packed with parabolic /figurative writing but very self explanatory. There is judgement for the preacher/leader who doesn’t relay information to the people and there is also judgement for the one who hears the words/warnings and does not take heed. This is similar to a few warnings Christ gave before leaving and also in revelations We indeed serve a fair and just God For Psalm 137:1-4 reminds me of a popular song. Reading it today gives a clearer picture of their time in Babylon and the captors treated them.
